Fix My Car

About the author

I am the owner of the Meineke Car Care Center on 6011 DeZavala Rd. in San Antonio, Texas. I started this blog to provide information for my own clients, but also for the public at large.

I have chosen to use the moniker “The Unlikely Mechanic” because it is an apt description of me. I hate working on cars. I don’t have the patience nor the attention to detail to do it. Nevertheless, I own a repair shop (go figure).

I graduated from college with a degree in architecture, but did not really enjoy working in the field. I moved into the telemarketing industry for several years and earned management positions with several companies. However, I don’t really like working for others. So, my wife and I started a vending company in 2000 and saved up enough money to purchase an existing auto repair franchise in 2006 because it was a good business opportunity.

When I needed my car repaired I always felt like I was getting screwed (hey, what do I know?). I have vowed to treat people the way I would have liked to have been treated (you know, not like I’m some dummy that should know what a mechanic is talking about). I have promised that I would not sell people what they don’t need, to offer choices and prioritize, to be courteous and respectful and fair. I train my employees to be the same way.

Sounds fair, right? I hope you are treated this way when you visit my shop. If you are not, please let me know – I’d like to fix the problem.

Interesting career path :) I just found your blog, it is very informative, hope you will keep it going.

Perhaps your analogy in your first posts is fitting, medicine and car repair are two areas where you really need to be an informed consumer!
